摘要

Fractal image coding based on an improved domain pool is presented in this paper. The domain pool of on image is first processed by Affine morphological Scale Space (AMSS) operators. Then for any range balck, a domain block is searched in thsi domain pool and a PIFS (Partitioned Iterated Function System) is obtained. All PIFSs give a loose fractal coding of the image. In this paper, various issues regarding this approach such as the contractive condition, decoding algorithms, and the corresponding collage theory are also discussed. An advantage of using AMSS operators is to widen the edges of the domain pool and to make sampled domain blocks have more similar edges to range blocks. By using the improved domain pool, range blocks can find better matching domain blocks and a higher compression ratio can be achieved.
