The institutes NEA (Netherlands), INRETS (France) and IWW (Germany) have elaborated a modeling approach for forecasting the transport activities in countries of Central and East Europe. In the foreground of the analysis is an integrated approach to forecast the loads on the so-called TINA networks which were defined by the European Commission as an extension of the Trans-European Networks. The very heterogeneous situation with data and models in the CEEC could be harmonized by a close communication of the above three institutes with institutes from 13 CEEC countries. As a result reliable figures are presented which give the base of an evaluation of investment projects for extending and upgrading the TINA networks.
