This paper presents a distributed architecture based on networks of agent clusters developed at Hynomics Corporation for the implementation of a class of applications that require the real time control of the enterprise behavior, as a function of online Point-Of-Sale (POS) data and availability. Such applications include automated and partially automated implementation of sales strategies, coordinated promotions, transportation, allocation, coordinated forecasting alert and disposition systems, on-line advise systems etc. The architecture allows for the natural data heterogeneity present in real enterprises or supply chain systems between the supply (production, service generation, acquisition, etc.) and sales. A network of self-synchronized agent clusters, without umpire, implements the proposed architecture. The proposed network includes active learning capabilities. The operational aspects of the proposed network are illustrated with a simple example.
