This paper presents an artificial neural network (ANN) based least-mean-square regression method for transducer modeling in a computer-based measurement system. An ANN based versatile algorithm integrated in the form of a virtual tester using PC-based data acquisition card is presented. Attempts are made to devise an important sub-module of an auto-calibration system for different types of sensors, transducers and signal conditioning circuits for real time applications. Fourth-generation, object-oriented, graphical-programming language is used to develop the user-interactive virtual tester's front-panel. Experimental results of the estimation of non-linearity of a strain-gauge pressure transducer and its method of calibration and testing of are presented.
