This paper presents a holistic approach to Internet associated process planning for prismatic parts. We believe this approach will be instrumental in linking factories and corporate offices. The trend of companies manufacturing different parts at geographically dispersed factory locations in intensified by business outsourcing and companies attempting to concentrate more on their core area of expertise. This paper presents an over view of a research which deals with the extraction, and recognition of the features of a solid model by Initital Graphic Exchange Specification sent through the Internet. The recognised feature used to generate a CNC part program for machining the component.
