In the proposed system all the metallograhic examination will be done by computer. A high resolution Closed Circuit Digital camera will take the photograph of the material under microscope. This photographic image will be sent to the computer for further analysis. The computer will be fed with the images of all types of structures for different metallic materials. Like, the microstructure of plain carbon steel with 0.8 % carbon differs than the steel with 0.4% carbon under equilibrium condition. The computer will match the acquired photographic image with the different available images in memory. This is done with Image Processing concept. It will match with one of these and analyses the material in the form of report.
