摘要

With the deepening of reform and opening, China is going to be a global manufacturing centre. Mechanical engineering as a classical subject is playing a much more important role than ever before. Fostering quality graduates and cultivating talents for the new century are the main missions of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Education (CMEE). Through comparison, investigation, theoretical analysis and teaching practice of many years, the developing trends of CMEE are outlined. Firstly, the educational mode of CMEE should be reformed and optimised to aim at cultivating application-orientated talents. Secondly, the educational idea of fostering creative and innovative graduates under the alliance of enterprises and universities should be put into action in a large scope. Thirdly, CMEE must have a high level and much experienced instructor team; this is the ultimate assurance of fostering high quality graduates. Fourthly, enlarging the cooperation with foreign universities is an effective approach of building world top ranking universities and cultivating international talents. Finally, and the most important one is that the Chinese government should increase investment in CMEE constantly and frame policy to strengthen it.
