摘要

The objective of adaptable product design is to extend the utility or service of a product in the product lifecycle span.A new evaluation methodology is introduced in this research to identify the product adaptability based on the carbon footprint considering the changes of design requirements.By integrating adaptable design and product carbon footprint calculation,the carbon footprint of all modules in adaptable product can be calculated for reducing the carbon emission of product.Design of a coating machine is selected as an example to demonstrate that the low carbon emission and high product adaptability can be achieved based on the newly developed adaptable product evaluation method.
