Inter-ministerial cooperation is critical for governments to successfully address the lingering, transnationalrnthreat of illicit trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive material. National Nuclear SmugglingrnResponse Plans, Counter Nuclear Smuggling teams and nuclear forensics are reviewed as examples of interministerialrncooperation. National governments should review inter-ministerial cooperation mechanisms andrnconsider new ones given the limited success in stopping illicit trafficking of these dangerous materials.
