摘要

Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) is an effective approach to satisfy the bandwidth demand of communication network. Compare with Dense WDM (DWDM), Coarse WDM (CWDM) becomes a new hot point for the solve scheme of Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) because of its good performance and lower cost And it application also expands to Access Network (AN). Base on the introducing of CWDM technology, the application of it to upgrading broadband access network is emphasized in this paper. The scheme of CWDM using for upgrading bi-direction Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) network is discussed. It is shown that CWDM will play an important role in the development of broadband access network.
