MONITORING SEA ICE IN BOHAI SEA WITH A CHIRP SONAR SYSTEM

摘要

A method is introduced by which the ice draft and movement can be detected consecutively. In this sonar equipment a chirp (LFM) signal has been used to measure transit time of sound accurately. Results of experiments show that the precision of ranging is better than 1cm. During the winter in 2003-2004 a bottom mounted sonar system had been deployed successfully near a platform in Liaodong Bay of the Bohai Sea. Numbers of data of floating ice has been obtained when the system was operated.
