A new model of iceberg drift is presented. It predicts the short-term drift of an iceberg by an estimation of the forces that act on the object. A formulation of the wave effect is proposed and is shown to give significant improvements to the drift estimation in some cases. A stochastic calculation is included into the model to deal with the uncertainties associated to various parameters of the problem: values of environmental forcing, hydrodynamic coefficients, size and shape of the object, etc. The efficiency of the model is tested with a dataset of iceberg drifts measured in Canadian waters in 1983 and 1984. The need of precise current forecast is emphasized by these tests and the importance of the wave-induced force is shown.
