Models of thermal actions recommended in the Eurocode EN 1991-1-5 should be calibrated by the Member States of CEN taking into account national climatic conditions. Reliability analysis of the effects of uniform temperature component acting on composite and steel bridge decks indicates that the reliability level may be less than that recommended in EN 1990. Credibility analysis of design temperature induced stresses of a restrained concrete bridge determined according to Eurocodes complies with the requirements of Eurocodes. Further research and more experimental data are needed for the specification of uniform and difference temperature models, for verification of alternative combination rules and for specification of reliability elements recommended in current standard.
