The manufacture of industrial parts in composite often induces an heterogeneous distribution of the microstructure. In order to design safely a piece it is necessary to have a precise behaviour law. In the case of discontinuous reinforced composites, it is very difficult to obtain a good behaviour law taking into account the scatter of the properties, the anisotropy, the damage which induces a stiffness lost. This paper summarizes one approach to relate quantitatively the description of the microstructure (distributions of aspect ratio, orientation, volume fraction of reinforcement), the mechanical properties of the constituents (elasticity, plasticity, viscosity), the micro-damage evolution (interface, reinforcement and matrix failure) to the macroscopic triaxial response of the composites.
