Statistical optimization techniques such as Multi Stage Monte Carlo Optimization (MSMCO) and other adaptive, self correcting, and self learning techniques are becoming more prominent because small computers are cheap and powerful and easy to program in our twenty first century. Under the general theme of reliability, MSMCO will be used to solve for how many different types of components and backup components are needed when a device consisting of several components in a series arrangement must function reliably say 99.95% of the time. Next, the featured example will involve the new VTSPA computer statistic to test for multiple population variability.
