Terrestrial carbon cycle has been the focus in global change research. Simulating net primary production of terrestrial ecosystems has been very important for carbon cycle research. This study aims to simulate China's terrestrial NPP in 2003 using a region-scale parametric model(C-Fix model) based on remote sensing, and explore tempo-spatial patterns of China's terrestrial net primary production and the mechanisms of their responses to various environmental factors in the light of resources balance. For these purposes, a national input database and a validation database have been set up on a lday-lkm tempo-spatial resolution. The data used in this study includes: Leaf Area Index (LAI) derived by processing EOS-MODIS data of 2003 acquired over China and daily temperature data of Chinese surface meteorological stations. In sum, China's terrestrial NPP has been estimated in 2003: China's terrestrial total NPP and mean NPP were 3.889 PgC and 405.139 gC/m~2/a, respectively.
