In order to verify the design parameters set in the "Tentative code for the design of high-speed railroads on soft ground". Large-scale field tests on a soft ground composed of a 2-5 m thick mucky soil were conducted in Jiangsu province, China, involving five ground improvement methods. The deformation behvior of the improved soft ground was investigated. The effectivness on settlement control was compared among these methods.
