摘要

The objective of digitization is create to knowledge which is universal, free to read in the form of scanned books, old and rare manuscripts, journal and magazines with optical character recognition (where possible) to support full text searching. Such a resource will lead to the democratization of knowledge by making available on the web, a unique library resource to scholars, students, and people around the world. The availability of online search allows users to locate relevant information quickly and reliably. In this paper, an effort has been made to describe the process followed and research tools designed during digitization of data under digital library projects. The approach for quality control and management of digitized data has also been discussed. The tools useful for information extraction and management such as text summarization & cross language information retrieval etc., which are under development, have also been discussed.
