摘要

Multistage Vector Quantization (MSVQ) can achieve very low coding and storage complexity in comparison to unstructed vector quantization. However, the conventional stage-by-stage design of the codebooks in MSVQ is suboptimal with respect to the overall performance measure. Simulated evolutionary and simulated annealing are two stochastic search algorithms for solving global optimization problems. They have been widely used in difference application areas. In this paper, a evolutionary simulated annealing algorithm is proposed which combines simulated evolutionary with simulated annealing to solve the codebook design problem of MSVQ for speech coding. Experimental results show that the algorithm has fast convergence rate and good performance for codebook.
