Geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) are manufactured barrier layers containing a competent layer of high-quality sodium bentonite clay attached or adhered to geotextiles or a geomembrane. The GCL's low permeability and high strength make it an ideal replacement for low permeability soil or clay liners for the containment of water and/or wastewater in engineered/constructed wetlands.
