摘要

The paper will present the Evernet/SSID Wlan(d)Scape project, an open source application framework. The existing prototype, a JAVA based distributed client server application gathers and provides wireless network information, offers geographical and location data, and provides mapping and tracking services, as well as location based services. The paper will offer a brief analysis of the wireless network market and propose a general open source authentication, authorization, and billing/payment system for global wireless networks relying on local, community, or private networks. The paper will further discuss the implications of flexible wireless networks and present planned extensions and features of the Wlan(D)Scape framework.
