The solubility of silver inthe MO-B)2O_3 (MO=CaO, BaO, and Na_2O) and CaO-RO (RO=SiO_2 and Al_2O_3) slags was measured at high temperatures to understand the thermodynamic behaviour of silver in molten slags and to obtain the measure of basicity. The dissolution of silver both into the acidic and basic slags at p_o_2<=~-13 atm is represented by the following reactions: Ag(1)+1/4O_2(g)=Ag~+(slag)+1/2O~20(slag) (in the acidic slags) Ag(1)+O~2-(slag)=Ag~2-(slag)+1/2O_2(g) (in the basic slags)
