Research activities to classify the quality of iron oxides have a long history but most of such activities are for the existing processes such as blast furnace or DR Plant. Therefore the newly developed process, such as the COREX process, needs new standardisation although some basic functions of the new process have similarity to the existing processes. Many researchers (Hauk, 1990; Cho et al, 1998) in the field of COREX process have codnucted investigations since the early stages of the process development and activities are underway for further plant optimisation.
