Effects of variety and fertilizer on the yield and the utilization of water and fertilizer of Tartary buckwheat ( Fagopyrum tartaricum) have been investigated through the experiment of two factors- separated plot. The yield of variety "Heifeng" was higher than that of variety "Qianwei", and the yield of these two varieties was significant higher than that of variety "Shouyang Gray". The yield of three varieties was raised significantly by applying both manure and chemical fertilizer, and the optimum combination for fertilizer was half level of manure pulsing half level of chemical fertilizer. Fertilizer and water use efficiency of Tartary buckwheat can be raised by planting fine varieties of Tartary buckwheat and applying fertilizers rationally.
