The UHPMB occurs in the south of the Dabie Mountains in the crntre of eastern China, and geologically between the Yangtze (to the south) and North China (to the north) continental plates. Dabie Mts. connects the Tongbei and then Qingling orogen to the west, and is truncated at its east end by the Tan-Lu fault of which the Su-Lu orogen is believed to be the displaced segment of the Dabie Mountains by the correlation of the similar tectono-petrologic units including the eclogite belt in both. The UHPMB is composed of eclogitic blocks and matrix, mainly gneisses of eclogite facies, and surrounded by the granitoid gneisses of amphibolite facies namely low pressure gneisses (LPG) referred to Dabie Complex, the underthrust basement of the Yangtz continental plate. To the immediate south, there is the phosphorous series of greenschist facies, namely Susong Group (Burearu of Geology and Mineral Resources of Anhui Province, 1987), referred to underthrust cover of the Yangtze continental plate. The foreland belt is located in the south of Susong Group and composed of intensively deformed but unmetamorphosed cover of Yangtze continental plate separated by molasse deposits. The eclogite belt graduates to the north into an ophiolite melange, eyen though some one disagree with the existance of such an ophiolite melange. The meta-flysch of early Paleozoic is on the north side of the ophiolite melange (Fig. 1).
