Ztek Corporation presents an innovative compact energy station that combines proprietary high temperature steam reforming (HTSR) and solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technologies for co-production of hydrogen and electricity at superior operating and environmental performances. This energy station will enable the rapid and simplified deployment of on-site hydrogen fueling capabilities to competitively service the emerging hydrogen powered automobile. Ztek technology innovations are multifaceted but most notable are its patented Zirconverter™ stack assembly and Precuperator™ thermal design that enable highly integrated and efficient fuel cell and reformer construction and operation. Although the typical operating efficiency of a SOFC system is approximately 40% at 1000℃, when the high grade waste heat from the fuel cell is funneled into co-production purpose (in this case to operate the HTSR) the total system operating efficiency can be boosted to 85% or better. This unique mode of operation and efficiency is unattainable by other fuel cell types.
