This paper presents tests carried out on RC beams strengthened for shear with CFRP strips and fabrics. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of CFRP strips anchorage on the shear capacity of the beams. The experimental program comprised of five RC beams and was carried out in two phases. The first phase consisted of five double span RC beams with 180 x 360 mm cross section and 5000 mm length. The region of the middle support was strengthened for shear with composite strips bonded on both sides of the beams with two different angles (90 and 60 degrees) and constant 200 mm spacing. All beams failed for shear near the middle support. After the failure the same beams were tested as single span beams, with one support rigid and the other simply supported. In the second phase of tests the external reinforcement was modified. The continuation of tests is also presented.
