Bell Helicopter and AgustaWestland have teamed to develop and certify the world's fastest commercial VTOL aircraft and the world's first tiltrotor - the Bell-Agusta 609 for both commercial and government applications. This joint venture of two of the world's leading rotorcraft manufacturers has carried the tiltrotor into the commercial arena with what has been termed a disruptive advancement of aviation technology. This paper will focus on the international flight test effort for the 609 with particular emphasis on technical findings. An overview will be provided of the test program organization and international test operations. Details are to be presented on the plans laid out to conduct concurrent FAA type certification and EASA validation. Results of aircraft testing to date are to be presented with selected technical findings discussed.
