The effect of two modified atmospheres on the growth/survival of Aeromonas spp, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella typhimurium and Yersinia enterocolitica on cod (Gadus morhua) and farmed rainbow trout (Oncorhyncus mykiss) stored at 0 and 5 deg C was determined. With all the organisms examined, in no instance was pathogen growth greater in either modified atmosphere examined than in the aerobic control, and frequently growth was reduced.
