摘要

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of shell openings on the strength and fracture patterns of concrete hemispherical shells reinforced with carbon fiber chips. As the variable parameters of shell openings, the number of openings and their locations were adopted. It is pointed out that the compound correction of strength by fluctuations of material constants and the actual shell thickness is effective. By both fracture experiments and the nonlinear numerical analyses concerning the load vs. displacement curves, it is pointed out specifically that as an angle of elevation for the inclination of the central location of openings from the horizon increases, the rigidity of a concrete shell with carbon fiber chips decreases.
