As for the existing steel structures, measurement of corroded surface configuration is important to estimate the remaining load-carrying capacity. In this study we selected image-based measurement as a method of measurement of corroded steel surface, and tried to reproduce the corroded surface configuration by ordinary method using two pictures taken from two directions. However we needed to set gauge points on the corroded surface to find the identical points on the two pictures, and confirmed that this method couldn't be applied to the practical maintenance. Next, we examined and proposed a new method of projecting photo-marking points on the corroded surface from one direction by using a projector, and taking a picture from another direction with digital camera. We confirmed that we could project photo-marking points easily with a projector, and reproduce the corroded steel surface configuration sufficiently and accurately.
