This research is carried out to investigate the cracking aspects of concrete structural elements under the compression stresses. The fracture toughness, the cracking direction and the path of the cracking are predicted. It is the first research which can predict these characteristics. It based on the last updating of the new fracture theories and the new concepts of the fracture mechanism of the compression failure and branching phenomenon. The research is carried out experimentally and theoretically. This research introduces a new understanding for the compression failure of concrete structures. It helps in predicting new suitable methods of design and repair of concrete structures.
