In numerous places, it is common to find viaducts across highways between 21m to 35 m in main span lengths. Among this type of span lengths, two construction techniques are usual: the precast-post-tensioned concrete or cast in place with reinforced concrete and fixed forms. In the following paper a computerized tool is presented which helps decide which building technique to employ in the construction of straight viaducts with central span lengths between the mentioned ranges. This decision is made prior to the design phase when details or quantities are not yet available to base a decision on. This computerized tool will provide the principal parameter cost/m~2 in addition to other important parameters which will be useful in deciding which type of viaduct is more adequate and convenient given the place/site and the time/when it will be built. This tool will be available on the web to help the future designers of viaducts with similar characteristics to decide in advance which type of project to embark upon.
