Design and construction are two interdependent stages in the lifecycle of an AEC project. This paper presents a model to coordinate design and construction employing product information as interface. Parameters play an important role in the coordination model, through which product is connected with design and construction. A parameter can be in different states during design and construction. Thus a parameter state chain pictures the evolution of the parameter. Design and construction activities are responsible for the state transformations of parameters. The assembly of the relationships between parameter states forms a complex dependency network, which integrates both design and construction. Approaches can be taken to ameliorate the relationships so as to improve the coordination between design and construction. The coordination model should be effective in dealing with design-construction coordination issues. The application of the model may improve the efficiency of AEC projects.
