This paper discusses the distribution of room air temperature, velocity and energy consumption in a typical Japanese atrium using an electric floor heating system with solar cells. Comparing with a commonly used forced convective air conditioner system, the improved indoor thermal environment and energy-saving advantage of floor heating system are known. Based on the indoor uniform temperature distribution, the long-term simulation was carried out to calculate the energy consumption of floor heating in this atrium in winter using the standard meteorological data. As a result, the 24.2% of this energy can be supplied with the solar cells (400m~2) on the roof of the building.
