摘要

Conventional tests used to characterise the phenomenon of breaking in bitumen emulsions do not take into account kinetic aspects. The ACTE test (Abrasion Cohesion Test Esso) allows to measure the cohesion build-up of the binder in the presence of aggregates. This test is very easy to carry out and does not require expensive equipment. It is a powerful instrument in the formulation of emulsions for chip seals thanks, for instance, to its ability to evaluate cohesion build-up of a binder for a given emulsion, in the presence of aggregates of different nature. It allows also to show the influence of chemical nature and concentration of the emulsifier.
