This paper describes the CAE-based development of head protection systems. Advanced simulation tools were used for meshing, folding and integrating the Inflatable Curtain in the vehicle roof structure under the trim parts. The model is used to investigate and optimise the interaction between the airbag system and the deforming upper interior trim parts as well as the system restraint performance for several In-Position and Out-of-Position loadcases.
