For salt production brine is won by solution mining with the borehole well method. The Alpine salt rock consists of a high share of insolubles, and therefore leached caverns are filled with clay residue, as so-called Laist, a natural backfill, according to salt content. The influence of cavern-fill-pressure on the long-term behavior of the cavern system is demonstrated based on numerical calculations, whereby the creep behavior of the salt rock is described by an elasto-viscous power law and the clay residue by the modified Cam-clay model. The research method for registering relevant parameters concerning short, as well as long-term behavior and furthermore, the obtained results are presented. Additionally, it will be demonstrated that the creep behavior of a material, which can be described via the Norton power law, can additionally be obtained from the convergence rates of drifts in different depths.
