When the magnitude of the variation of the measured parameters is very small, it becomes difficult to detect the trends that characterise the measured quantities because multiple factors can modify the electrical readings of the sensors employed to perform the continuous measurements. The reduction of the effects of such factors is achieved improving the installation procedure and the management of the measurements. In addition, in the field of data reduction, the authors propose the following analysis method, derived from a large data set acquired over more than four years of continuous measurements. The aim is to detect the correlation existing between the measured deformations and the thermal variations to which the sensors are subject, defining a method to reduce the "shadow effect" masking the true variations of the monitored parameters.
