A one-dimensional mathematical model was developed to depict the temperature profile for the bed, gas and wall in the heating and drying zone of rotary kilns. Based on the analysis of Conductive, convective and radiative heat transfer between the solid bed and the gas phase, between the solid bed and the kiln internal wall, and between the gas phase and the kiln internal wall, The model can be used to predict the temperature distributions, it provides a simple way to design the rotary kilns.
