The high pure Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_y(Bi-2212) superconducting powders were synthesized rapidly via sol-gel. Metal nitrates were used as starting materials and ethylenediaminetetracetic acid (EDTA) as chelating agent. The precursor powders derived from gel were heated at 850℃ for 10 hours, and studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD). On the basis of precursor gel, the gel was prepared by further heating and found that the gel was preferable to form the Bi-2212 superconducting phase, compared to the precursor gel.
