Ti-38at%Zr-17at%Ni elementary powder mixture with 0, 1 3, 5at%Y powder has been mechanically alloyed for 720ks and subsequently heat-treated in an argon atmosphere at 813K. With increasing Y content, an icosahedral quasicrystalline phase has increased. And also Ti(Zr)_2Ni type phase has increased with increasing oxygen content in the milled powder The formation of yttrium oxide reduce the oxygen content in the matrix of the milled powder, resulting in the increase in the icosahedral quasicrystalline phase.
