The correlation between the enthalpy change and mechanical property during structural relaxation of Ni_(60)Zr_(15)Al_6Hf_7Nb_(12) bulk metallic glass was investigated by DSC and compressive and hardness tests. Since the atomic mobility increased and excess free volume decreased upon annealing at low temperature, the atomic configurations changed to more stable atomic configuration, resulting in an embrittlement of the annealed sample.
