The lecture starts with some bases for the modelling and calculation of ageing processes for arbitrary RC structures. The required constitutive relations are represented. The material law for reinforced concrete must be able to describe the damage of the cross-section (e.g. the cracks open and close) as well as possible deteriorations of the concrete (e.g. creep and shrinkage or hygric effects). Finally, the numeric tools developed on this basis are applied to an old single-reinforced cooling tower shell exemplarily. The example managed to understand the watched ageing appearances numerically. In the end, an engineer-like explanation of the phenomena can be given.
