Having emerged from its initial stage only recently, the new Spark Plasma Sintering technology (SPS) allows the production of modern structural ceramic materials that cannot be consolidated by means of conventional methods. Up to now, SPS has been successfully applied in the development of monolithic and composite materials such as dispersion-strengthened materials, metal-metal composites and special metals and still implies unprecedented opportunities. Introduced are process technologies for basic research and development as well as complete solution approaches for serial production and the making of larger parts of the mentioned materials.
