Presented research is concerned with the investigation of the use of dynamic methods for the evaluation of structural timber and for the determination of the performance of structural timber elements. The investigations dealt with the ultrasonic method and the methods of longitudinal and transverse vibrations. The usability of these methods was verified at samples with the structural dimensions. In the carrying out of non-destructive tests the following methods and devices were applied. In the case of the ultrasonic method the devices Tester CCT-4 and SYLVATEST were used. As regards the vibration methods natural frequencies of simple systems were measured. The devices used were accelerometer and amplifier of the signal HOTTINGER, and the memory osciloscope GOULD. Each of the dynamic methods was also evaluated from the point of accuracy, as well as technical complexity and time of duration.
