@@We would like to present a new paradigm in the engineering of nanostructured hybrids between conjugated polymer and inorganic materials via surface-initiated catalyst-transfer polycondensations (SI-KCTPs) based on Kumada1,2 and Suzuki3 chaingrowth polycondensations. In particular, grafting of regioregular poly(3-alkylthiophenes), P3ATs, from planar surfaces1 and from particles (submicron and nanoscale) was developed and will be presented here.2 Surface-initiated polymerization (SIP) from particles is a powerful tool in engineering of novel polymerbased hybrid materials. Polymers densely grafted to surfaces may exhibit novel and useful properties because of chain-overstretching caused by excluded volume interactions.
