The Cluff Lake operation started uranium production in 1980 and has produced over 50 million pounds of uranium since that time. The plant starte with high grade ore (+30percent U) processing and went through a series of modifications to its present operating status: centre dot Phase 1 - High-grade ore (+30percent U) processing with acid leach and iron cake precipitation followed by direct yellowcake precipitation. Lower grade ore was concentrated in a gravity circuit to +30percent U.
