Computerised analysis of recorded data from main engines and machinery, until recently technically impossible or prohibitively expensive, can offer valuable information on performance. This information can help the operators and engineers in tracing engine problems, planning preventive maintenance and so forth. Most modem Engine Monitoring Systems today record and keep engine history for a considerable time, but nevertheless analysis of this history was so far neglected. The new IMACS system by Totem Plus is probably the first attempt to handle this task seriously.
