Objectives of the Warping Test on Yumenkou - Tongguan mainstem of the Yellow River are to divert more sediment, warp coarse sediment and release fines. Flows with high content of coarse sediment are transferred through channels away to the warping area. The testing site is located at Lianbotan on the left bank of the upstream reach with a sediment-delivery channel of 2.63 km long, including two bend overflow weirs with discharge of 71 m~3/s, releasing sediment 200 kg/m~3. The gradient of the channel changes from 40/000 for the section upstream the upper overflow weir to 5 per ten thousand for the section downstream the upper overflow weir, and the bottom width is 20 m. The warping test performed in 2004 shows that the design of the sediment - delivery channel is reasonable and the channel has high capacity of sediment releasing.
